16” x 20” — Oil $2,100

I often paint outdoors and so the weather report is very important. I was painting in a plein air event and the week had predictions of high temperatures. I decided to get out as early as possible to paint. As I was wandering down a road towards the shade of a stand of trees I was stopped in my tracks by the beauty of the warm light hitting the landscape. I had to paint that beauty. I saved my plein air painting thinking that I would someday use it as reference for a larger painting. Gonna Be A Hot One is the result. When I look at it I remember the beauty in that summer morning.
