MARY FRANKEL BRAIDED

Braided is an oil painting on linen painted from life at a model session I attended in Fort Worth, Texas. In my daily life I often encounter people or places I am drawn to, and that is where I begin “the process” of bringing my vision to fruition. ‘London’ was the model for this portrait and when I met her she was so natural and easy going - it made my job so much easier. I always strive to know and reflect the inner person when I am painting figures or portraits. I have close friendships with many of my models, their inner beauty as well as outer beauty, a joy to bring to life.

Later, a job relocation brought Frankel to London, England where she was able to immerse herself in the rich environment of great art and architecture throughout Europe, igniting the artist within. Frankel has traveled the world, and creates paintings and drawings depicting the people and places she has so lovingly encountered. Frankel currently divides her time between Fort Worth, Texas and Estes Park, Colorado.
