TRISH WEND SECOND SUMMER

I painted this in early fall, when days are still warm and sunflowers are abundant. Sunflowers in confit pots take me to the open-air markets in the small villages of Provençe, where you can find everything you didn’t know you needed. When I looked at my bouquet of sunflowers in the antique confit pot, I saw a transmitted glow flowing from one flower to the next. This inspired me to suffuse the painting with a golden glow, which further evokes the last days of summer.
