On September 8, 2022, I went out for a Paint ‘n Swim excursion at Johnson’s Beach in Guerneville along the Russian River in 107 degree heat. By the time I finished packing up my painting gear in the mid-afternoon, I was approaching heat exhaustion....which, ironically, made my plunge into the cool water afterwards nearly a moment of pure ecstasy. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it was one of the best swimming experiences of my life, partly fueled by having finished a painting of the waters I love!
