I really enjoyed painting our beloved model, Chuck, at an open studio session at the Scottsdale Artists’ School back in January. He always had a smile on his face or a witty joke to lighten the hearts of whomever he came in contact with. I was very sad to learn that Chuck passed away recently, on May 6th. I feel fortunate to have captured him and his spirit months before his pass ing. Rest in peace, Chuck.

Ashwini grew up in south India and her formal education was in science and engineering. After graduate school and working in the corporate world for a few years here in the U.S, she decided to pursue art full time. Ashwini’s art education has been primarily through workshops at the Scottsdale Artists’ School. She is currently an instructor at the Scottsdale Artists’ School and her work is represented by Ballard’s Fine Art gallery in Sheridan, WY. Her current focus is on painting portraits and flowers.
