One recent fall morning, I painted en plein air at a Day of the Dead celebration where one of the dancing girls particularly caught my eye. I could not wait to get back to the studio to paint her in her flowing ruffled blue dress. Her pose captured a confident attitude that came from celebrating life and heritage.
