BARBARA GERARD-MITCHELL COMPANIONS
16” x 20” — Oil $1,200
My inspiration for this piece came as I was observing a herd of buffalo near the Blackfeet Reservation in northern Montana. A lone buffalo paused momentarily with busy birds on his back. I toned my canvas with Transparent Red Oxide, and created a glow around the buffalo, then used strong paint strokes to indicate the massive power of the bison.
