JILL WEBBER THE BODARK TREE IN LATE SUMMER

LINGHUI WANG TEXAS SUNSHINE

12” x 16” — Oil $1,950

16” x 20” — Oil $900

At Waco’s Saturday market I saw two girls lying on the playground on a soft sofa enjoying the warm sunshine. I loved the light and shadows, loved the strong reflections on the dark part, especially the skin tone where there is very subtle relationship between warmth and coolness. I did this painting wanting to capture my feelings, capture this beautiful and peaceful scene. Texas girls are just like the sunshine.

I have plein air painted this beautiful tree several times, at different times of the day, and at different times of the year. It is a Bodark, or hedgeapple tree. I love its overall shape and form against the contrast of the dark woods behind it.
