There are many views of the Golden Gate Bridge that millions are familiar with. Some of them from inside the bay, some aerial, and some from the north or south ends of the bridge. But this particular view, which is seen from the cliffs along Land’s End at the northwest tip of the city, is more unusual. A dirt road runs alongside the cliffs, and this painting began as a plein air done from that road. I had to be there early, because the window of time when the light edged the cliffs in just the way I wanted was very narrow. But what a beautiful moment to capture!!

In this sculpture I wanted to capture the sweet connection between a beloved horse and her rider and the feeling of a job well done at the end of the day.

Raised in rural Central Florida, she explored the cypress swamps and palmetto forests finding a sense of wonder and peace in the natural world there. Upon earning her BA from the University of Toledo she moved to Prescott and fell in love with all things Southwest, from the flora and fauna to the Native American and pioneer influences of the people inhabiting the region. Heather’s work is in collections all over the world and she is currently the only woman to have a commissioned public sculpture in downtown Prescott, AZ.

She also began painting en plein air, adding a new source of excitement to her work. Over the past decade she has been juried into many prestigious national exhibitions and won a variety of awards.
