LORI CUSICK BELOW THE SAN JUANS

JOYE DeGOEDE PUPPY LOVE

12” x 24” — Oil $1,225

For a brief period, I passed this view daily. Each time, it sent my brain into action, not only evaluating the shapes, colors, and light but also reflecting on its endurance. How many settlers and critters have shared this view? Who will gaze upon it in the future? May this painting inspire you to embark on your own reflective journey.

16” x 20” — Oil $4,700

Puppy Love captured a tender moment with these two coyotes. I love seeing them on my hikes and around my home studio. I don’t paint subjects that I don’t know. I love to do lots of research before I start my paintings. There are so many stories to tell! Here are some fun facts about coyotes: they mate for life; coyotes show affection to each other with gentle nuzzles and snuggling; greetings usually occur around dusk. They include nose touches and lots of body contact, squealing and wiggles. The differences between coyotes and wolves are in their snout/muzzles, ears, size and tails. Coyotes have narrower features and longer snouts/muzzles than a wolf. A wolf’s ears are more rounded than the pointed ears of the coyote. Wolves have bushier and shorter tails. Coyotes are shorter, sleeker and lighter on their feet.
