COREY GARMAN COFFEE’S COLD

24” x 36” — Oil $4,700

I love the challenge of painting right on the rim on the Grand Canyon. On the late October morning I started this painting I arrived at Moran Point in the dark, well before the sun came up, with all of my painting stuff and most importantly my thermos of hot coffee. I had pre-planned just how I would start this painting and was ready to go when the first rays of sunlight started to appear. As I raced to capture the light as it illuminated the Canyon I completely lost track of time. My feet were freezing, my hands were freezing and my coffee was stone-cold, but I had the little plein air painting that was the inspiration of my studio painting, Coffee’s Cold.

COREY GARMAN • WAOW Associate • AZ • www.coreygarman.com Corey loves the West, and especially Arizona. More than anywhere else it feeds her senses and inspires her to share what she experiences. It amazes her that she can make an infinite variety of colors with oil paint just as there are an infinite number of colored gemstones. The colors of the desert are the most gem-like, they are pure, clear, and crystalline and like gemstones they change along with the light. Corey’s paintings celebrate moments in the ever-changing Western landscape and she hopes to convey the feeling of those times and places to the viewer and perhaps evoke similar memories.
