In late August we were driving to Oregon to visit our kids, and we drove by a beautiful scene in Northern California with a marsh. It was just about sunset. The clouds in the sky were amazing, and to make it even better there were some trees in the background. I knew right then that I wanted to paint this scene and try to capture some of the beauty I was seeing.
