CHERYL KOEN BUDDIES

16” x 20” — Oil $1,800

The theme of both of my paintings On A White Horse (previous page) and Buddies is about a white horse being kissed by sunlight. The gesture and movement in On A White Horse features a cowboy riding on a high desert plain and was intriguing to me as well. Buddies is a more tranquil portrayal of two horses dozing in the warm morning sun. The bond that horses often have with each other is also expressed in Buddies . In the past, I owned a white quarter horse named Woody who was a companion to my other horse, a thoroughbred. They were inseparable. My goal was to capture the beauty of a white horse and to convey a story.
